02 Oct 2012 - Sophos is recognizing IT professionals and their contributions to IT security during this month’s National Cyber Security Awareness Month (#NCSAM).

Sophos is encouraging IT staff to participate in its activities, some of which include:

• “What IT wishes you knew about Security” Tweet series throughout October (#ITwishes)
• IT professional Crime Fighter of the Year award. A chance for employees to recognize an IT manager, administrator, or department that has gone above and beyond to keep employees safe and workplaces secure.
• An IT Horror Stories page, where IT professionals can reminisce and share stories about the worst security issues they’ve faced.

“The influx of personal devices in the workplace, the proliferation of malware and the increasingly complex nature of the network has made securing an IT infrastructure a daunting task,” said Matt Fairbanks, CMO, Sophos. “IT professionals are meeting these challenges head-on every day, and we are taking this opportunity to recognize their tremendous efforts.”

In addition to honoring activities during National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Sophos provides IT professionals with an IT Dos and Don’ts tool kit all year round. The kit helps IT professionals create employee education programs that keep their company secure.
