Better control, visibility, protection, and disinfection capabilities offered in latest version

– October 12, 2010 – Global IT security and data protection firm Sophos today announced the availability of its latest enterprise version of Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac 7.2 (SAV for Mac) – part of Sophos Endpoint Security and Data Protection. It provides protection for Mac computers and servers running Mac OS X 10.4 and above against both Mac and non-Mac viruses. This latest version now disinfects viruses, Trojans, worms and spyware that are detected and place in the new Quarantine Manager. This software continues to protect Macs from both Mac and non-Mac viruses.

With more businesses adding Mac computers to their network and the steady rise in threats targeting the Mac platform, it's become more critical to safeguard these computers. With the latest enhancements, using the Sophos Enterprise Console customers can easily manage protection on Mac as well as other operating systems such as Windows, Linux and UNIX.

"For years, Sophos has been offering Mac protection for businesses," said Product Manager Sunil Choudrie at Sophos. "While many Mac users might feel it is only Windows computers that are at risk, this is not the case. There are specific viruses that target the Mac platform, and recently SophosLabs has seen a rise in Mac specific malware. With this release, IT administrators are protected against the latest threats and disinfection is even easier."

Customers are protected against malware threats with small frequent updates from SophosLabs™ underpinned by Sophos's unique proactive Behavioral Genotype® Protection. Administrators also have the option of setting automatic email alerts and can schedule updates and define scanning policies centrally.

Existing SAV for Mac customers can upgrade for free as part of their license, which includes threat updates, upgrades, and 24x7 technical support.
