– October 6, 2010 – Global IT security and data protection firm today announced that Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise, a multi-layered endpoint data security combining encryption and data loss prevention (DLP), has earned a 'Recommended' status in SC Magazine’s October 2010 group test, 'Encryption at Rest'. Sophos received five out of five stars across all categories - features, ease of use, performance, documentation, support, and value for money.

SC Magazine noted that "Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise offers a lot of data protection beyond standard whole disk encryption. Administrators not only can protect data through disk encryption and removable media encryption, but also can set policy for port control-based data leakage prevention."

The reviewer found the installation process to be straightforward. Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise "is quite intuitive" and the console is "easy to use and intuitive to navigate." From the console, the reviewer remarked that "administrators can plug directly into Active Directory and import users and groups for policy configuration. Configuring policy is also fairly straightforward with many options configured with just a simple point and click. We found deployment of clients to be simple as well. The solution features a configuration tool that makes creating client installation packages intuitive and easy."

Also earning favorable mention were the various documents, tutorial videos, and manuals provided. The reviewer noted that "all the manuals were easy to follow with many screen shots, step-by-step instructions and diagrams in a well-organized format."

The reviewer concluded that Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise offers "full encryption capabilities, as well as port control and data leakage prevention functionality" and it is "an excellent value for the money." Sophos was awarded a 'Recommended Status' for this latest group test.
